Projects like the Brenner Base Tunnel and Schaftenau-Radfeld junction in Tyrol continue. Urban development projects in Vienna (e.g., Nordwestbahnhof) are advancing through land redevelopment and site clearance. Austrian ÖBB plans following infrastructure constructions and modernizations in this year.
Electrification projects on the Styrian Eastern Railway and Western Railway (GKB line) are advancing. Modernization of Ennstal railway stations and planning for Werndorf–Spielfeld-Straß double-track expansion continues. Upgrades at Mixnitz-Bärenschützklamm station are scheduled for 2025. 6. Eastern Region (Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland)
Austrian State Railways have published the infrastructure works plan for this year. 1. Koralmbahn and Koralm Tunnel (Carinthia & Styria) Passenger services on the Koralmbahn will commence in December 2025 after extensive testing and commissioning. Freight traffic is scheduled to begin in October 2025.
This enables 300 million passengers and 90 million tonnes of freight to reach their destination safely and in an environmentally friendly manner.
