International standards for photovoltaic panels
The international standards for photovoltaic (PV) module safety qualification, IEC 61730 series (61730-1 and 61730-2), were anticipated by each category as it would relate to PV systems.
Additional standards and guidelines have later been published such as the ISO 21930 (Environmental Product Declaration on Construction Products”, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 2017), and the Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCR) for PV electricity (TS PEF Pilot PV 2018).
At least three regulatory levels for the production and installation of photovoltaic systems can be considered. Additionally, the Life Cycle Assessment methodology is also regulated by standards. In this chapter, the three levels are presented.
The reliability of photovoltaic (PV) systems refers to the ability of these technologies to dependably produce power over a long and predictable service lifetime. The ability to stand up to a variety of weather conditions also contributes to the reliability of these systems.
Table 2. Solar PV end-of-life waste management and recycling regulations in China and the USA. The GB/T 38,785-2020 standard provides technical requirements for recycling thin-film photovoltaic modules and reusing them for building use. Furthermore, China has also established other standards and guidelines for the management of EOL PV waste.

Working with industry we define, maintain and improve quality – certifying products and installers so people can have confidence in the low-carbon technology they invest in. From solar and

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a structured, comprehensive method of quantifying material- and energy-flows and their associated emissions caused in the life
There are numerous national and international bodies that set standards for photovoltaics. There are standards for nearly every stage of the PV life cycle, including materials and processes used in the

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a structured, comprehensive method of quantifying material- and energy-flows and their associated emissions caused in the life
Three regulatory frameworks are presented in this chapter. First, an overview of active international technical standards related to photovoltaic technologies or to life cycle assessment
